Meeting Minutes: January 21st, 2014
Call to Order-
President, Anna Buetow, calls the meeting to order at 3:05pm.

Fundraising Report-
Ashlee Sanders, Fundraising Coordinator, gives the fundraising report. Ashlee announces:
Valentine's Day Bask Sale- dates for February 13th in the Skylight Lounge and February 14th in E-wing. If you are available to work at the table or bake any goodies for those dates, please contact Ashlee at [email protected]. After seeing who is able to help we will be able to make a schedule of the hours the bake sale will be.
Crush For Your Crush- We will be selling three difference flavors of Crush soda at the bake sale. Each flavor means something different: orange for friendship, grape for secret admirer, strawberry for crush. Students will be able to purchase the flavor of their choice and we will have supplies there for them to make cards to send with the can of Crush soda.
Treasurer Report-
Ashlee Sanders, Treasurer, gives the financial report. As of today we have $7,901.42 in our account. That total includes the chapter fees of the new inductees.
Fellowship and Service Report-
Vice President of Fellowship, Kristi Fleming, states that she is still in the process of brainstorming several difference fun activities and is open to taking new ideas that members would be interested in doing. If you have any suggestions for fellowship or service projects please email Kristi at [email protected].
Membership Report-
No new members for the semester because membership letters have not gone out yet. They will be go out within the next week or so. More information coming soon as to new member orientation and induction dates and times. And we are proud to announce that Denetta Magruder is our new Vice President of Membership! Denetta announces that we have up coming orientation dates of February 18th from 11:00am-12:30pm in room B48 and February 24th from 12:30-1:15 in room B48. Spring Induction has been scheduled for Monday, March 3 at 6:00pm. Mark your calendars because this is a great experience for all members to be a part of!
Public Relations Report-
Vice President of Public Relations, Europe Doan has nothing to report at this time.
Student Senate Representative Report-
Europe Doan thanked all Phi Theta Kappa members that took part in the Angel Tree service project that Student Senate organizes. Advisor, Adrienne Barkley-Giffin, wanted to thank Upsilon Pi for their taking care of one of the angels. All members who were involved agreed it was a wonderful and fun experience that they can't wait to do again next year.

Scrapbooking Report:
Next Wednesday, January 29th, there will be a chance to refocus what needs to be done for the scrapbook as well as get to work on the scrapbook again.
New Business-
Dr. Dreith, the President of the college will be joining us on Tuesday, January 28 during our weekly meeting to discuss next year’s college project ideas. The purpose of a College Project is to establish and/or strengthen a supportive relationship between the chapter and the college administration. You don’t want to miss out on this great experience!
Looking to go on an adventure with the chapter? Lincoln Lockin is coming up. It will be in Springfield, Illinois on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23. This event is a very fun one. It gives the Illinois Region, Phi Theta Kappa members a chance to meet and hang out while learning more about their region and Phi Theta Kappa. EVERYONE is encouraged to come along! If you are planning on trying to sleep that night, bring a blanket or pillow with you. You will be staying over night, so please bring whatever you feel you will need for that reason. PLEASE r.s.v.p. NO LATER than Tuesday, February 4th as well as pay the registration fee of $25 by this date to the information desk B29. The information desk now can accept debit card payments as well. Additional costs for the trip will be noted after everyone has R.S.V.P. It will not be much. We divide the gas money needed between those who are going. Any comments/questions/concerns as well as R.S.V.P. can be emailed to [email protected].

Reminder: NEW TIME FOR SPRING 2014 meetings!!!! Time of our weekly meetings will be from 3:00pm until 4:00pm on Tuesdays. Meetings are held in room B48 across from the Information desk. Remember, weekly meetings are for ALL members, even perspective members! Please join us, if you can at any time! It’s okay to be running late! The more, the merrier. If you are unable to attend, keep up with the minutes and, hopefully, we will see you at future events! Chapter President, Anna Buetow is also available in B48 from 2-3pm if anyone is unable to make it to the meetings.
Advisor, Adrienne Barkley-Giffin wants to remind all students of all the scholarship available through the Foundation Office on campus. There are scholarships for students that are planning stay at John A. Logan and those that plan on transferring, as well. Please visit www.jalc.edu for more information.
