College Project report--
We will be filming the video THIS MONDAY (AUGUST 5th) at 11:00am. We will be meeting at room B48, which is where we normally meet for our weekly meetings. Please bring any friends that are willing to be the video. John Homan has agreed to let us use John A. Logan’s equipment to film and edit, and his intern Jonathan will be assisting us, as well. Now that the date for filming is set, we need to think of ways to ask teachers to show the video on the first day of class. President, Anna Buetow, asks members to be prepared to talk about this subject at next week’s meeting.
Bulletin board Report--
President, Anna Buetow, reports that there are two pictures missing and it is still under construction! Vice President of Membership, Drew Hans, states that he would like to start over on the bulletin board all together with a better plan from the start. Members are encouraged to think about how you want the board to look and be prepared to discuss options next week.
Scrapbooking Report--
Vice President of Public Relations and Scrapbook Committee Head, Europe Doan, reports that they are dividing the scrapbook into months. Each month will have a new saying about “Time”, which is our over-all theme for this year. The scrapbook committee has picked out June’s saying “Like Clock Work”. Committee Head, Europe Doan also states that the process is taking a lot longer than expected and would like to meet more often, maybe even every week before the meetings. Next week we will brainstorm and decide what will work for everyone’s schedule. *Also Note: We will be scrapbooking before our meeting next week at 12:00pm.* If you have any question/comments please email Europe at [email protected].
Chapter Website-
Vice President of Public Relations, Europe Doan, has been working very hard on a website for our chapter and her hard work is paying off because the website looks fantastic!! Europe shows present members the website (www.upsilonpiptk.weebly.com) and asks Ashlee and Brandi to stay after the meeting to show them how to blog. She also mentions wanting to eventually change the domain of the site to “.org”. It will make the site look more professional and only cost $40 for a year. President, Anna Buetow, states that she is going to talk Adrienne Giffin about it this week.
Old Business:
Service Opportunities--
A few weeks ago, Secretary, Brandi Husch, mention that a 5 year old girl named Sunny is suffering from cancer. For updates and please visit her on Facebook athttps://www.facebook.com/pages/Rays-of-Hope-for-Sunni-Casey-Page/213686208713840 . Hopefully we can get involved in a fundraiser at a later date.
Fellowship Opportunities:
St. Louis to the City Museum on Saturday, August 17, 2013. This will give us as members a chance to catch up with one another as the new Fall 2013 semester begins and a chance to see our former President Christina Boyce (YAY!!!!!). Some detail: $12 + tax is the admission. $5 more dollars, if we're wanting to go on roof. + gas per person for the trip, $5-10. It'll most likely be about $25 to $30 each. We will most likely leave John A. at 10am and be at the park by 11am/12pm. This is also an “unofficial” event due to not having an advisor. If you are planning on going please reply to this email and let me know so we can figure out cost/transportation.

Fellowship Opportunities-
President, Anna Buetow, states that the chapter at Shawnee Community College wants to do a fellowship event with us soon. Although we are very excited to hear this, it doesn’t look like a possibility before school starts. We will be talking about it in the future, so think about what you would like to do (bowling, hiking, skating, ect…).
Honors in Action Update/Info:
Theme 6: “Food Fight!: Competition and Food” Question #9: “How do guidelines, such as the USDA’s Food Pyramid and school lunch programs compete with or match parental/community food standards and/or realities?”
President, Anna Buetow, discusses the idea of members that are involved with the HIA project keeping a journal of their experience to use when we write it up at the end of the year. Most members think it will be beneficial and Anna will be getting notebooks to pass out, you can provide your own, or keep a typed record on a flash drive if you don’t like to hand write. Secretary, Brandi Husch, states that there is an HIA online journal mentioned in the HIA booklet. She volunteers to look it up and tell other members about it at the next meeting.
Anything else?? :
Members wanted to brainstorm on C4 signing events for the fall semester. Orientation is the first event that we might be able to be involved with. Secretary, Brandi Husch, states she has been in contact with Jane Minton about orientation and will be asking if that is a possibility. Vice President of Public Relations, Europe Doan, had the idea of having something to hand out to students at events such as bracelets or t-shirts. Most attending members agreed that those items would be a little too costly for our club, but items that are less costly might be something fun to have. Vice President of Membership, Drew Hans, wanted to make sure that we keep the main mission of C4 (committing to completion of a degree) as the main focus of these events. Present members agreed with Drew, but felt we could keep the goal in sight while making it fun for students as well.
Adjournment:
Before adjourning the meeting, President, Anna Buetow, thanks everyone who is able to make it to the meeting and hopes those not present are able to keep up with us on Facebook and Twitter.
Motion to Adjourn by Secretary, Brandi Husch.
Motion seconded by Fundraising Coordinator/Treasurer Ashlee Sanders.
Meeting Adjourned at 2:45 by President, Anna Buetow.
