College Project report--
· This week we were very fortunate to have Teri Campbell from the Student Success Center join us to brainstorm the best way to get the qualitative and quantitative outcomes of our video. Teri started off by thanking us for all our work to bringing awareness to the Student Success Center. She informs us that she is writing an article about the video and that she will need to interview some members. She suggested that for some quantitative outcomes we track how many views, shares, clicks, or likes our video gets on social media sites. While brainstorming these ideas, Ethan Edwards suggested getting feedback from the teachers who showed the video in class. We could ask them about their experience while showing it in class and maybe get a rough estimate of how many students viewed it, as well. Teri Campbell also felt like having the tutors ask students how they found out about the Student Success Center would be a great way to get some numerical feedback. She felt the most effect way to handle this would be to make a sheet for tutors to fill out along side of their normal sign-in sheet. Secretary, Brandi Husch, volunteers to email all tutors explaining what the sheet is for and why we are asking them to fill it out.
· This past Tuesday, our chapter was honored to show our video to the Board of Trustees. We had five minutes to explain what a College Project is, what our chapter did for our College Project, show the video, and take questions. Members that were able to attend were President, Anna Buetow, Secretary, Brandi Husch, Vice President of Fellowship, Kristi Fleming, Vice President of Public Relations, Europe Doan, and Ethan Edwards. They all agreed it was a priceless experience that they are grateful for. Attending members also reported that everyone was very supportive and gave positive feedback. Vice President of Public Relations, Europe Doan, mentioned that the Board seemed very impressed that our video had received over 600 views. (And the last time I checked we were over 800 views!!!!)
Scrapbooking Report--
We are still in the process of getting all the supplies that we need in order to continue scrapbooking. So at this time the next scrapbook meeting will be announced at a future meeting.
Old Business:
This past Sunday was Sunni’s Sunday Funday fundraiser and three members were able to be a part of the fundraising event for 6 year old Sunni Casey who suffers from leukemia. Secretary, Brandi Husch, thanked President, Anna Buetow, and Ethan Edwards for coming to help out with this event. Both Ethan and Anna stated that it was a fun event to be involved in and great seeing a community come together to help such a brave little girl. The members that attended helped with selling tickets for the children’s carnival, selling t-shirts, and working in the concession stand, where Ethan reported he became rather skilled in wrapping bratwursts and hotdogs. Brandi Husch reported that they were able to help raise over $2,700. The money will help with Sunni's medical bills! Such exciting news!!!
Resurrecting Johnny Logan is tabled for this time, but could be a future project for Upsilon Pi. Most members seem to think it could be a perspective College Project for the future.

Honors in Action Update/Info:
MARK YOUR CALANDARS: Wednesday, September 4th, 2013, we will be meeting from 1:00pm-3:00pm to do official research for our Honors in Action project instead of having a normal meeting. The computer lab that we will be using is still in the process of being reserved and we will e-mail that information as soon as it is available.
Theme 6: “Food Fight!: Competition and Food” Question #9: “How do guidelines, such as the USDA’s Food Pyramid and school lunch programs compete with or match parental/community food standards and/or realities?”
President, Anna Buetow, reminds members that anyone is able to do research at any time. We will have a set date that we will be working on it soon. Keep the Theme and Question in mind because you never know what will come up in your daily life that relates to it!
Anything else??
Tom Chandler has joined us for the meeting and after the meeting he unfortunately announced he would be unable to be our advisor for this year. We were upset to hear this, but very thankful that he even considered our offer and that we had the chance to get to know him. He encouraged us to keep up the good work and to contact him if we ever needed anything. So our search for an advisor still continues.
For the past two weeks members were made aware of a vacancy in our officer team. We had two members express interest in the position of Vice President of Membership. They were asked to come prepared with a short speech about themselves and telling why they want to be Vice President of Membership. Will Safran was the first to give his speech, followed by Ethan Edwards. Voting is open to all members and will be done by responding to this email stating who you are voting for. Voting will end on Wednesday, September 4th at 12:00pm and we will announce the winner at our meeting that day.
Also, we have currently changed the time of our weekly meetings to 1:30pm. Meetings will still be held in room B48. Remember, weekly meetings are for all members! Even perspective members. Please join us, if you can! The more, the merrier. If you are unable to attend, keep up with the minutes and, hopefully, we will see you at future events!
