Reading of Minutes:
There were no minutes taken last week.
Fundraising Report:
Treasurer/Fundraising Coordinator, Ashlee Sanders, reports she is researching different fundraising ideas for the fall semester such as: Mix it Up Day, Pie a Kappa in the Face, Applebee’s, Rummage Sale, Hunting and Fishing Days, Larry’s House of Cakes, and more car washes. Ben Porter suggests that we should start contacting cooperate companies now for fundraising options.
Committee Report:
The Student Success Center video script for our 2012 College Project was passed around for member to give feedback. Secretary, Brandi Husch, recapped the last meeting where members worked on the script. The script was way too long and was edited down to only 2 minutes to keep the video short but still informational. Now the script has been broke down into scenes and needs to be approved before filming can begin.
Old Business:
Seven Members and Interm Advisor, Adrienne Barkley, had the chance to go to the 2012-13 Illinois Regional Convention. Those who went give a recap of the event: Ben Porter shared his experience with fellow members and stated the he really enjoyed the educational forums he attended but added that all the buildings were extremely cold. Secretary, Brandi Husch, said her experience at her first Phi Theta Kappa event was very inspiring and motivates her for the coming year. She also learned a lot from the two educational forums she attended and also learned from teaching a forum with the other members. President, Anna Buetow, reported that our scrapbook that we entered in the contest got a score of 36/45. We lost points on creativity and theme, but that will be remembered for next year. Anna was excited to fellowship with fellow Phi Theta Kappans from the Illinois Region and seeing Dylan Moore, former Vice President of Membership, participate in the magic show we watched the first night. All members joined in talking about Dylan’s performance and Ashlee Sanders, Treasurer/Fundraising Coordinator, added she has the whole thing on video. During Awards Night at the Convention our chapter received our Four Star Certificate and won a College Project Award for Mix-It-Up Day. Two of our members won awards as well. Dylan Moore was extremely pleased to win a Spirit Award and it is rumored that he now finds this to be one of his greatest accomplishments. And Christina Boyce, former Chapter President and Southern Illinois Region Vice President, won a Distinguished Leadership Award. All members that went agreed it was a great learning experience for everyone and were happy they attended.
