June Regional Conference
Eight of our very own took a trip to Belleville, Illinois, for the annual Phi Theta Kappa regional convention. The eight are featured in the picture to the left, and include Anna Buetow, Chapter President; Ashlee Sanders; Chapter Fundraising Coordinator; Christina Boyce, former Chpater President; Chris Hendrickson, member; Drew Hans, Chapter Vice President of Membership; Dylan Moore, former Chapter Vice President of Membership; Ben Porter, member; and Brandi Husch, Chapter Secretary.
While in Belleville, our chapter received our 4-Star certificate, and won a regional award for Outstanding College Project, Mix it Up Day--a day designed to break down the social barriers between students. In addition to the chapter awards, two of our former officers won individual awards, Christina Boyce received the Distinguished Leader award, and Dylan Moore received the Spirit award. We are very proud of them both.
Other highlights of the trip include memorable speakers, good food, meeting fellow Illinois Kappans, and attending excellent educational forums, one of which our chapter got to facilitate on the benefits of "Competitive Edge," a free program designed to enhance one's Phi Theta Kappa experience, and increase individual professionalism.
Overall, the dedicated members of Upsilon Phi had a great time, and look forward to attending more Phi Theta Kappa conferences in the future.
